Following My Dreams: My Journey from Mechanical Engineering to ASL Interpreting in Tampa

okay so I just moved to Tampa and I don’t think I really talked about too much why I moved so I’m gonna tell you okay so for me to explain this I feel like I have to go back a little bit like a few months ago so I used to live in Orlando right and I used to go to school at UCF and I studied mechanical engineering anyways while I was studying engineering I really didn’t know if I liked it or not I just kept going in the major because I thought if I graduate with this degree I’m gonna get money while I was studying engineering at my school there are a lot of things that were happening at that school like for example teachers discriminating against me and the students bullying me and it was kind of a lot and I was getting p@nic attacks every week so then long story short I dropped UCF and then I left to move to Tampa I changed my major to ASL interpreting because I realized that’s what I wanna do and I know a lot of people are gonna be like “what do you mean you’re studying-“ “to become an ASL interpreter?” “You’re Deaf” deaf people can become an ASL interpreter it’s just a different kind of ASL interpreter they’re called Certified Deaf Interpreters so yeah that’s basically why I moved to Tampa to follow my dreams but Tampa here is deaf friendly like I don’t know what happened but every person that I’ve met so far they know a little bit of sign
