Powering Up the Starlink Mini with USB Type C using a 100 Watt Power Bank

Can we power up the Starlink Mini with USB type C? What I have here is a 100 watt USB C to barrel connector. I got this on Amazon. I’ll have the links to all this stuff down in my bio. And supposedly we should be able to just plug this into USB C and it will power up the Starlink Mini no problem. One thing you do have to be aware of though is that when you are using this barrel connector instead of the official Starlink connector, you’re gonna lose the IP sixty seven waterproof or water resistance. Uh, that plugs up this hole here. Now Starlink has said that they’re gonna come out with an official USB C version that will be IP sixty seven waterproof. But they have not released that yet. So right now we kind of just have to fend for ourselves. So let’s just get this plugged in here. So just like that fits in very nicely. And I’m gonna power it up with this absolutely gorgeous anchor prime power bank. This is a 27,650 milliamp hour power bank. 250 Watts of power. And it has a USB A and two USB CS on it. As well as display screen that might be hard to see in the sunlight. Let’s see if I can get a good shot of it. Oh, there’s me. Hey. Yeah, I can’t see the screen too well but it says 100% charge right now. And we are gonna Plug it in just like so. Now you can’t really see what it says here too well because it is in the sun, it’s kind of dim. What I’m seeing is 42 Watts of power draw. Or it wasn’t 42 Watts. I think it’s lower now. Yeah, now it says 24 Watts of power draw. And it’s estimating approximately 3 hours and 52 minutes at this load. But it does appear to be working. Let’s see if we can connect to it in the Starlink app. Alright, so Starlink Mini is showing online. It says we’ve got one device connected. That’s my phone. And let’s run the speed test from the app here. Alright, so running off this battery bank, looks like we ended up with 152 by 14.6 megabit upload, 41 milliseconds of latency. Let’s check the orientation, the alignment. And it does show that we are a little bit off. So let me twist this just a tad here. Alright, and now that’s just about perfect. So, yeah, if you were just backpacking or something, you want to take the Starlink Mini with you, you can just bring a power bank such as this anchor Prime Power bank. And this one will power it up for over three hours. That’s pretty cool.
