Creating Perfect Pockets: A Step-by-Step Jeans Sewing Guide

Here’s how to make pockets for jeans. We’re gonna need our front panel, the pocket lining, and the pocket facing. The first step is gonna be taking the pocket facing and sewing it onto the lining. Make sure that it’s surged on this side. Put it right in the corner, and then sew all the way along. Take our liner, line it up with the pocket on the pattern. So right along this edge up here and turn it to the other side and fold it over. It’ll look like this. Press it flat, leaving us with this really clean pocket opening. Top stitch right along the edge. Then do a second stitch right below it. Turn the pocket the wrong way. It’ll be inside out and kind of off to the corner. Then sew right along this edge. Turn the pocket back the right way. Give it a press with your iron and sew one more seam along here to kind of lock in those open edges. You could also just surge along here, but I think this has more quality and it’s more appealing. The last step is just to base around the edge, which will just hold everything in place. So it stitches all the way up and around to here. At that point, you’ll have yourself a really nice pocket for your jeans. Follow for more tutorials and cool clothes.
