Unveiling a Vintage Treasure: The Antique Brownie 8 Millimeter Film Projector

This is my best antique find yet. You might be thinking, Dan, what about that time you found that 1950s film reel of adults, uh, wrestling? What the. What the fuck? That was cool. But check this out. This is a brownie 8 millimeter film projector that right now is going for up to $300 at auction. And that’s untested. This one I got for $50. And it came with this rare carrying case. Okay, check this out. First you’re gonna pull out the projector from the carrying case. Then you flip out the film holder. This is gonna allow us to watch vintage home movies like this one. So first you take the 8 millimeter film and put it on the top mount, feeding the film through the actual projector portion of this. Once it actually catches, it feeds itself through the machine, where I then connect the film to this other reel. And now we can actually start to watch 8 millimeter home movies real time. And it also has a manual focus knob. These were predominantly used for home movies. Families would buy these brownie projectors and would sit around together and watch. Before this projector, I was doing digital scans on this one, which, yes, digitizing is better for preservation of the film. But I defeat this film through this small scanner right here. And frame by frame, it would scan each one. And on these 3 inch reels, that’s about 4,000 frames. Which means it Takes just over an hour to actually scan all this. So for $50, getting a working 8 millimeter film projector with carrying case, you can’t go wrong. Oh, yeah, and for some reason, this one also came with an adult, uh, wrestling tape. Genuinely, I never thought I’d come across one of those again. So, what would you guys pay for something like this?
