Alaskan Adventure Chronicles: A Week of Wilderness, Wildlife, and Birthday Cake

I’ve spent the last week traveling with 12 strangers around Alaska, and I can’t believe this part of my adventure is actually coming to an end. Today was the craziest day. We decided to move our big hike to today because it was sunny, but we also had kayaking in the morning. We kayaked for around three hours. This was so fun because we also saw so many animals, and the mountains and the ocean are just stunning here. I have about two days after this trip before I fly home and go back to Junie. And I’ll tell you what, as sad as I am for this chapter to come to an end, I am very much looking forward to being back in my home. My van is my safe space, and traveling with it, I never feel that exhausted. But I will say, traveling without it has been a whole. Another ball game, and being away for a month is actually starting to take a toll on me. After this, we headed over to one of my favorite hikes I’ve done in Alaska. I love seeing people experience new things just as much as I love experiencing them myself. Oh, yeah. And our cooler got disgusting, and our guide is a fucking rock star and fixed it. even though I’ve done this hike three times in the last three weeks, it’s, like, just as exciting. So I’ve done it with new people, and I’ve gotten to see Them experience it. Today was kind of a choose your own adventure day. This hike is like nine miles and like thirty five hundred feet of elevation gain. So definitely not everyone’s cup of tea. I took the five girls that wanted to go all the way to the top with me. It was awesome. We had summit beer, some other people chose some other little loops and we all met back up at the hostel for dinner. I’ve had birthdays on both of my group trips. In this trip we actually had three birthdays. One of those being today is our guide’s 40th. Obviously we had to do cake after dinner. The other thing that I wanna talk more about in a dedicated video is how this is the first time in 10 years I haven’t been 100% vegan. And all I can say is it’s really nice to have birthday cake with everyone.
