Title: Tragedy Strikes: Fatal Shooting on Chicago Transit Train Prompts Calls for Increased Security and Resources

And as you mentioned, we’re just learning from the village mayor that those four victims were shot while asleep on the train. The CTA calling this deadly shooting heinous, shocking. You know, it is uncommon, you know, to have a mass shooting like this, especially this close to home. This drone video shows police squad cars sitting outside of a Blue Line station in Forest Park, where train operations have halted after this holiday weekend ended in gunfire. Telling us that there are three subjects that are shot, possibly all fatal. It happened around 5:30 this morning. Police say those four gunshot victims were found on an inbound train that had just arrived. All four victims died with the help of CTA surveillance video. Within 90 minutes, officers responded to a CTA Pink Line station. We have somebody in custody. A weapon was recovered. In a statement to ABC seven, a CTA spokesperson said in part, quote, although this was an isolated incident, this heinous and egregious act of violence should never have occurred, nonetheless, on a public transit train. Village leaders tonight pleading for better resources, like more security and workers, especially at this very station that the mayor says has seen growing crime numbers. What we’ve Learned is that, you know, over the last two years, our number of responses have increased exponentially. And so we’re calling on our leadership, countywide, statewide, to invest more resources to support a small community like Forest Park. And secure in this Area and authorities have yet to identify the victims or suspect involved in this shooting, but we’ve just Learned from the mayor that charges are expected tomorrow.
