Oh my God, I remember that crying on the bathroom floor at the beginning of freshman year of college. If you feel sad right now, it doesn’t mean you’re doing college wrong. You’re actually doing it right. It’s a mentally healthy response to miss your family, to feel sad, to be worried about not finding your people, to be overwhelmed by the amount of change. And the reason why most people are drinking their faces off and hooking up with whomever is breathing right now is because it’s a way to run away from their feelings. Whenever they’re not moving or doing something, they have to sit with the sadness or the boredom or the unknown. The fact that you’re allowing yourself to feel what you need to feel and you’re honest with it means you’re gonna move through this transition faster and in a healthier way. Slowly but surely, things are gonna get a little bit better cause you’re gonna get used to being there. You will find your people and you will start to realize, hey, I’m actually starting to like it here.
