DIY: Saving Money and Taking Control of Your Finances

I made $75 in an hour, and it’s because of the concept of doing it yourself. When it comes to saving money, convenience will always cost you extra. My car is 16 years old and my headlights really needed some help. And even though I have the money to pay someone else to do it, I’d rather put my hard earned money in my own pocket and do it myself. When you live on a budget and you’re on your money saving journey, you always have to remind yourself, convenience is gonna cost me extra. When you go out to eat, or if you get a coffee, have someone deliver something to you, etcetera, you have to remember you are paying more money for convenience. So instead of paying $100 that I was quoted from my mechanic to restore my headlights, I spent $21 on a restoration kit and I put in some elbow grease and did it myself. It’s important to remember when you’re on your debt free journey or trying to save more money, you always have to remember to pay yourself first. You work so hard for your money, why throw it away and put it into someone else’s pocket when you could be putting it in your own? Your journey to saving money and becoming debt free is gonna require you to change your mindset and change your habits. But look at those headlights. They’re looking good from where they started. It took about an hour. And I saved myself over $75. And you know what I say? The hard work pays off. Thanks for watching
