Alright guys, so this is day 3 of waxing up some grills every day for the month of September. So one of the most asked questions is how do you isolate the mold? And I’ll personally use neoset, which is this in the video. I get it from technical dental supplies, I think just website online. However, if you’re just starting out and you just wanna practice, you don’t actually need to get something that’s specifically for this purpose. You can soak the mold in water and sort of put the wax on when it’s still wet, and that can help it release from the mold. Or you can even use something like hand cream or baby oil. All of these things work to isolate it. So my molds are actually made out of dental stone. But even if you use plaster of Paris, it’s a really porous material once it’s set, so you just can’t have it dry. If you try to apply molten wax under the set plaster, the wax will seep into the pores of the material and it makes it near impossible to take it off the mold. And even if you do, your wax will definitely break. If you’ve been working on a wax for hours, it’s definitely not the vibe. But yes, in this video I’ve waxed up my probably most popular design, which is the bow gap filler. If you have any designs you want me to make, um, let me know. And I can make them. If not, I’ll see you tomorrow for Day 4. Bye.
