Mastering Breathing Techniques for Better Riding Performance: Stay Loose and Stable on Your Bike

I can tell you’re riding rigid, which tells me that you’re holding your breath. Super easy to hold your breath. You actually will do this, like, little half breaths in and hold it. Okay? Whether you’re realizing you’re not. So what I want you to do is anytime you come into an entry of a corner, anytime you go over the rollers of a jump, let out a nice exhale, and then really consciously think about taking a big inhale. Not only will that help you breathe, but it will keep your muscles loose so you can stay in the position. As soon as you go and these little half breaths in and hold, your whole body kind of locks as one connection, and you get stuck. And what I’m watching it happen for you is you’re trying to lean forward, but then you twist the throttle and you get twitchy and you fall off. It makes you fall off the back. Every time you go to roll, the throttle on, your head falls off the back just a little bit. So breathe and lean forward.
