The Evolution of Labor Day in the US: From Protests to Celebrations and Challenges Ahead

Why do we celebrate Labor Day in the US? Because we love cheap labor. The unemployed people should spend Labor Day looking for a job. Why do we celebrate Labor Day? Um, laborers. I think that’s the culture. I really never put a. A meeting to it. Say, right now, it’s a pretty hot year for labor. Japan, which is known for having an awful work culture. They’re introducing a four day work week. Why can’t we have that in the richest country in the world? Yes, Labor Day is where we honor workers in the US. But in the late 1800s, people actually gathered here in Union Square to protest working 12 hour days, seven days a week. People were getting sick. And then that’s when the union stepped in and they fought for the 40 hour work week and PTO. And all we know now about our schedule. Labor. Now, you put your heart and soul and they treat you like a. Like a wet rag. Worker productivity rise, but we haven’t seen pay rise at the same time. We’re both laboring today. We’re both out here. But it’s a labor love, right
