Malaysia Celebrates Historic Gold win by Badminton Champion Chia Lik Ho at Paris Paralympics

The Prime Minister and several other cabinet ministers have extended their congratulations to badminton champion Chia Lik Ho for winning Malaysia’s first gold medal at the Paris Paralympics. Yesterday, Dato’seri Anwar Ibrahim praised Chia for successfully defending the title he won during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Chow secured the gold after competing in the men’s s U5 singles physical impairment finals on September 2nd. He defeated Indonesia’s Suryo Nugroho 21:13 and 21:15 in just 42 minutes. The Paris Paralympics currently taking place until September 8th has also seen Malaysia win a bronze medal with Sabahan Eddie Bernard finishing third in the men’s hundred metre sprint. Under the Sports Victory Prize scheme incentive, national athletes who win the gold medal would receive the same reward as those who competed in the Olympics, which is 1 million ringgit.
