Title: Widening the Debate: Addressing Opposition Dynamics and Political Leadership in Uganda

We’ve had F d C as the leading opposition. Yes. Yes. And I have not had a problem with it. In fact, for me, I would wish to widen the debate to say that the, the larger picture would be how do we deal be er with a run up presidential candidate who possibly has garnered a lot of support and is an opposition leader outside parliament. Possibly. That is a debate you can have at some point in time because, uh, before N U. P, there was Doctor Kizza Besigye and there was some bit of friction at some point with the, with the lead of leadership in parliament and so on and so forth. So it would be narrow. In fact, it would, it would be so narrow to, to legislate because of, uh, the principle like you want to call it. So for me, I would rather widen the debate and instead of looking at it, but the, but the sentiments for, give them the sentiments because if you are, the sentiments that are coming from the National Unity platform point to a fact that, uh, perhaps Lumumba is having personal vendetta with the current leader of opposition that whom he once ousted or the manner of election changed. Of course, for starters, they loaded acted retrospectively. Even if, uh, Lumumba has to go through with the, the Bill, it wouldn’t affect the current leader of opposition unless, uh, we’ve seen the 11th Parliament to amend the Law as and when they wish.
