Review: Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Sequel – A Hilarious Blast from the Past

Is Tim Burton’s a long awaited and perhaps necessary sequel any good? Well, I got to attend an early screening of the film last night and these are my initial thoughts instantly. It is so much funnier than the original. Comedy is very effective and easily what made this film so enjoyable. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Tim Burton film without the special effects. The special effects and the stop motion are done really well and they are second to none. That’s what I loved about this because he stayed with the stop motion that he used in 1988, which of course was great. You’ll be pleased to know we do get a lot more of Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice in this film. And that was something that really bothered me from the first one cause we only got him for about 17 minutes. Catherine O’hara was great. Every line that she delivered was just precise and perfect. And Justin Theroux as well. I thought he was just such a great addition. And of course obviously Jenna Ortega absolutely thrives in these sorts of films. And of course Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice was the perfect film for her. I did enjoy this film a lot. It gave me a lot of good laughs. The audience were loving it. But for me the ending did not work. I’m not gonna spoil anything, but that final sequence just didn’t do it for me. I do think a lot of fans are gonna enjoy This especially beloved fans of the original, it is out this Friday. Go and check it out and if you haven’t already, drop me a follow.
