Client-Centric Photography: Decoding Desires for Picture-Perfect Results

Photography. Clients gush about the images I take for them, so much so that they invest money to purchase custom wall artwork of them to hang in their homes. So I came up with a list of ways to know what your client wants before the session so that you can plan so that they get the images later that they want to invest in. Number one, meet with them in person before the session. It’s weird to be showing up and meeting your clients for the first time. At the session, everyone is going to feel comfortable, and everyone is going to feel prepared. No.2. Home decor. Listen, discuss their home. Where will these images go? Do they want an album for the coffee table? Do they want a specific item on their wall? How large? What’s their decor like? This helps you understand their space and their style, and it helps you keep that in mind when it comes to color, the theme of the session, etcetera. No. 3. Why do they want photography? What’s the occasion? Right. Because obviously, a senior session will have a different feel than an engagement session, and you can work certain things in as props or backgrounds. If they’re celebrating their kiddo graduating from kindergarten, or they want images of their whole family playing kickball together. No. 4. Get to know them. They have hobbies, pets, specific locations in town that they love. This is how we get creative with props. And the setting. And it helps tell their story. Follow for more tips like these.
