Harvesting Wild Berries in Greenland: A Seasonal Tradition

Have you ever picked wild berries? Picking berries is a big part of who we are here in Greenland. Each fall, just before the first frost, we go to the nature to pick crowberries and blueberries and we fill up our freezers for the whole winter. We go out to the nature by walking from the towns or settlements or by boat. We keep our best picking spot for ourselves. There were so many matches today, so we had a bit of a hard time. If there had just been a little breeze, we wouldn’t have had this problem today. We found a perfect spot with many, many blueberries. But you will never know where we are. There are unusually many blueberries this year and few crowberries. It’s usually the opposite. Life is amazing. Tacos.
