From Waitress to Teacher: The Surprising Similarities and Skills Developed in both Roles

okay hear me out on this but I think being a waitress is really good practice for becoming a teacher let me explain so before I was a teacher I was a waitress at a barbecue restaurant for like six years um through most of high school and then college too and the way that I set up my classroom is in tables and I thought it was funny because today I was walking around like checking in on each table as they were working on independent work and it reminded me so much of being a waitress because all of a sudden I had like a lot of kids were just like needing help on different things so it’s like walking and checking in on table be like yeah do this this this this and then I had like another hand raised and I like walked over my blah blah blah I felt like I was back to waitressing and like taking orders and going to get things and and giving out pencils obviously being a teacher and a waitress is a completely different job but just the walking around each table and like tending to all these needs and having constant people needing your attention and help is that same level of chaos of trying to make sure you get to everyone and check in on every table and get everyone what they need yeah considering that don’t you think that waitressing would be really good practice for people who were considering becoming a teacher I don’t know
