Is it just me, or does a putter not actually matter that much? Only major difference is a blade or a mallet. Other than that, it’s down to the player. Now, this is a really common misconception. I’m gonna explain the things that are important when it comes to putter fitting. Starting off with fitting a putter that you aim well. So these things all work visually. There’s lines, there’s dots, there’s lines in the front of the putter, lines in the back of the putter, there’s clean heads. And also the shape of the putter itself will all influence how square you see that face. And everyone that I’ve ever seen, try a bunch of different putters will aim some type of putter better than they aim other types. So that’s a fact. Do you wanna know that you’ve got a putter you are very comfortable seeing as straight and seeing as square? Then it comes to lie, length and loft. Now, these are all gonna influence the way you deliver the putter and the way the putter responds from how you’re delivering it. So putters, just like drivers, have an optimal launch conditions. The ball sits down a little bit in an indentation in the grass. You need to lift it out of the indentation and get it rolling end over end as quick as you can to have a good roll, which is gonna help, obviously, with your speed and try. It’s gonna help that ball stay On line, then you have the overall weight and the swing weight of a putter. So that’s making sure that the putter is a weight that feels comfortable for you throughout the swing, which is going to help you with your speed control. And changing the weight of the head will influence how fast that ball comes off the face. That’s why loads of modern putters are designed with these little weight ports to allow you to adjust those things, because they’re just as important with a driver as they are with a putter. And then you have different grip. They come in different sizes, different shapes, different lengths and different weights. Now, the weighting stuff is obviously more about comfort and trying to get the speed and control. The actual size and shape of the grips will influence how your hands are positioned on the club, which influences where your forearms position, which will influence your stroke. So all of these things being optimized will definitely help you become a better putter. Now, putter technology is not a game of perfect. It’s not. This is the right thing for everyone. It’s finding what works for you and what helps you in your quest to become best putter. Now, you still got to learn to read this putts, and you still got to go and execute. But you can definitely find someone who’ll aim one type of putter straight in the middle of the hole and have a very solid Stroke. And you give them a different type of putter, they’re gonna aim offline, and they’re gonna struggle to match their stroke speed. And they’re gonna struggle to start online early. From changing the putter, not just from changing the player. You can kind of see that with Scotty this year. The moment he went to a mallet, which is better fitted for him, he started putting loads better.
