Women’s Seat Selection Initiative: Enhancing Safety and Comfort on Indigo Airlines

An airline in India is letting women passengers choose seats that they know will be next to other women. The airline is called Indigo. It’s one of the largest airlines in the world. And here’s how the new program works. When women go through the online check in process and they see the seat selection for their plane, the seats that other women passengers have already selected will be highlighted in pink. Color coded seat chart will only be available to people who identify as female during the booking process. So men will just see the neutral plain map. They won’t be able to sit next to women on purpose. Only other women will be able to do. This initiative was launched in may as like a pilot program was currently being evaluated by the airline. We don’t know the future of it yet. Depending on how successful it is, it may continue. It looks like so far so good. There was a 60% increase the number of women using the service between the months of July and August alone. There’s obviously been a lot of discourse about this online. One speculation is that since there were two documented cases of SA on Indigo planes last year, that this is a response to that. And obviously SA is a problem globally. So it’ll be really interesting to see if this program is successful with Indigo specifically and then if it expand other airlines. Let me know what you think in The comments. I personally would really love this feature. Also, I’m in Sweden right now, and I think that might be messing with my algo. Um, so feel free to share this video if you want to. To help me out. Bye.
