My kids woke up today and asked for chocolate milk, but we were all out, so I decided to make some myself. I headed out to the pasture to visit our cow, cupcake. Cupcake has been such a huge asset to our family, giving us milk whenever we need. After I got my cup of milk, I headed back to the kitchen. I used homegrown cocoa beans to make homemade chocolate chips. After dicing them up, I put them in a cast iron skillet and melted them on the stove. I then poured the liquid chocolate syrup into the cup of milk. I combined everything with a spoon my grandfather hand forged during World War II. Seven hours after they asked, my kids got their chocolate milk. But they didn’t drink it.
