Here’s where the focus needs to be during our backswing. And it starts with kind of the lower body and what it does if I looked at the backswing from behind. I want us to pay attention to what the lower body is doing and where it’s moving. During this backswing, I need to be able to fully rotate and create some depth in my backswing while keeping my lower body inside the parameters of my feet. We see from time to time that lower body sways outside. And one, the more it sways, the less it can actually rotate, so we lose rotation there. Two, if I sway really far off the golf ball, three to four inches, I now need to move myself laterally five to seven inches in order to cover the golf ball, in order to compress it really well. So when I’m making a backswing, I’m focusing on two things. One, big rotation of the upper body. Two, let the lower body come with it, but stay inside the parameters that I’ve given myself.
