Troubleshooting a Girthy Laptop: The Tale of Beeping Lights and Thermal Paste Woes

Flashing lights and beeping may sum up your uncle’s last DUI, but it also sums up this nightmare that’s crashing to my computer repair shop because this girthy 20 pound gooch filled origin laptop with a power brick that rivals an alien wears refuses to stay on. It just sings the song of its people while hitting blinkers before committing Sudoku and shutting down. And according to my customer, this happened after they took it apart to replace the Thermal paste. Now the only origins I’m familiar with are from the many diseases that are created here, so this is a first for me. But wow, that’s an impressive looking Onkyo subwoofer. I bet it would sound great if the weirdest definition of ever could get it working again. Which of course I can, because on this model these beeps mean there’s a problem with the fans or the temps. So after replacing the Thermal paste, we’re back in business? Uh, well it might need new fans then. Maybe the RPM sensors are bad, there’s no way one of the temp sensors on the motherboard got damaged. So after replacing the fans, we’re actually back in business. Alright, well maybe a trip to the farm will help. Old Fido here.
