Capturing Melodies: How a 70s Hit Inspired a Fresh Arrangement

As happens with covers, I, I, sometimes I just get a little piece of someone else’s song stuck in my head. I think we all do, um, get like a little earworm. And for some reason, I don’t even remember how I came back across it, cause this is a song that was famous in the, in the 70s. Um, somehow I came back across it and the melody got stuck in my head. So I’d be like, it sound checks with my soprano, and I just start playing butterfly. And I couldn’t, I couldn’t get it out of my head. And then when I started working on the record, I thought, well, let me see if I can come up with some way to, to do an arrangement of it. And that was actually the very first thing that I did when I started the record was to try. And so it was really fun for me, and I’m a sort of a mediocre keyboard player, but to try and figure out what Herbie was doing on the record and then change it so it sounded more like a Bon Jovi song. And then, um, I don’t know, I just was really feeling that melody in my heart, so I, I think that’s kind of what made it my own.
