The Brittle Lily: A Tame but Tasty Sandwich Adventure

Good afternoon, D D TikTok and beyond, and welcome to roll for sandwich, the series where I let fate decide my lunch. Let’s go. Today’s episode of roll for sandwich is sponsored by Lily Papers Library and their roll for reading Box. Roll some dice to set yourself up on a blind date with a new book. These blind boxes come with a mystery book, annotation supplies, a recipe card, and other fun goodies like stickers and drink packets. And every box is finished off with the D20 Dumb, Dumb Roll. Let’s see what book I ended up with this time. All right, head to the link in my bio or to lilypaperslibrary com to pick up your own box. All right, without any further ado, let’s get rolling. First up, it’s our roll for bread. One roll for each slice. All right, roll in the D6 for each slice. Five Italian and six pumpernickel. Well, my Italian bread got a little squished cause it’s from a live show this past weekend, but I don’t really mind because it kind of made it more the same size and shape as the pumpernickel, so I’m okay with it. And yes, I know that’s not the kind of pumpernickel you have in Germany. It’s American pumpernickel. All right, next up, let’s roll for Maine 3 Olive loaf. Olive loaf is Bologna with olives cooked right into it. Usually these green pimento stuffed olives. It tastes like an even saltier version of Bologna. Let’s roll for some cheese. 2 Swiss. Swiss cheese isn’t a bad roll here. It’s got a very slight funkiness to it that I think pairs well with the pumpernickel. Next up, let’s roll for roughness. 6 green pepper and 7 lettuce. Green pepper is not a bad roll either. It’ll add a little bit of crunch to our sandwich, and its slight bitterness, I think also goes well with the Swiss cheese. We’re taking a short break from the homegrown garden lettuce today with this leftover iceberg lettuce from this weekend’s live shows. Though not quite as tasty, it’ll still add a nice freshness. All right, time to get wild with the Wild Magic Roll. 7 peanut brittle. Well, the last time we got peanut brittle, I said that there was potential there when put on the right sandwich. I don’t know if this will be the right sandwich, but it seems we are getting a chance to test that hypothesis yet again. And last but not least is the D20 sauce roll. Here we go. Six flavor town guys back at it again with his Carolina barbecue sauce. This vinegar based barbecue sauce isn’t bad. A little sweet, a little tangy. Might actually be a good combination with peanut brittle. Let’s get our sandwich closed up here, get our toothpicks in to hold it together, and let’s get it cut in half. And let’s take a look at that cross section. All right, well, the dice were definitely In a chaotic mood today, but not necessarily a malicious one. This is definitely tame compared to the last sandwich we ate. Let’s give it a taste. Well, that’s two crunchy sandwiches in a row. Though this one is quite a bit better of an experience than the last one. Honestly, it’s not too bad. I don’t think it’s the perfect combination to have peanut brittle on, but I think we’re getting closer. Were it ham or even just regular Bologna instead of olive loaf, might have gotten there, but I don’t know. I’m kind of a fan of the untoasted soft bread with peanut brittle inside. It’s almost like the Crunchwrap concept. we are starting off September on a weird but not necessarily bad note, and I’m definitely okay with that. This incarnation of the peanut brittle sandwich is gonna get a 7.2 from me today, and I’m gonna call it the Brittle Lily. Thanks for hanging out with me, everybody. I hope you have a great day, and I will see you again on Friday.
