Pronunciation Practice: Michigan Words and Their Silent S’s

Alright, well, welcome to Michigan pronunciations 1:01. So today we’re just gonna be practicing some easy words in Michigan and how to say them. Alright, we’re gonna start off super, super easy with this first one. Could you pronounce this word for me? Alright, I’m gonna take a shot here and say that that is Meyer. Close. But in this case you actually add the silent S so it actually becomes my yours. Does that make sense? Because it’s like a store, so you add the S so it becomes Myers. Oh, okay, so you don’t see the S, just add the S. Got it. Okay, okay, well let’s try another example just so you can see how this works. How would you say this one? This one, I don’t see the S, so I’m gonna add the S. So this one would actually be Fegos. Why would you add an S to this one? I, I’m confused now. There’s, there’s, there’s no S there. We just say FEGO. You. You really think we would say fegos? Get out of here. Let’s work on some easy ones again. How would you say this one? So we add the S again. Ass. Good. Kroger’s. Does that make sense? Okay, now that you’re getting this, how would you say this word? I’m reading Walmart, so I’m gonna say Walmart’s. No, we. We don’t. There’s no S here. I, I don’t understand why you keep thinking we put an S on like every Single word. We don’t say Walmart’s. It’s Walmart. Let’s take a break and get back at it tomorrow, alright
