So what if self examination led us to understand that through that examination we can learn something about this judging nature and become the witness to something that is killing us instead of summarily serving it every time it serves its judgment to us. So we’re always talking about a new level of potential freedom through every possible thing that we can learn through a proper state of self examination. And to be clear, philosophy is not self examination. Religion is not self examination. Self examination is the moment in which I am present to the moment I am in so that I can see all of the elements involved in that experience. And in the end, the real examination leads to the discovery that there’s no me separate from all of those moments and the way they’re interacting.
