Free Range vs Cage Free Eggs: A Test Kitchen Experiment

Hi, my name is Danny and today we’re gonna see if the test kitchen knows the difference between free range eggs and cage free eggs. I want you to draw test scale. How much space do you think a cage free chicken lives on? So like relative to scale or like, yeah, like real life scale. Well, how is there’s not enough room here. Could I just like hold up the paper? That’s much real. They’re in like these giant cramped rooms where they still can’t move. This is small. Even its whole life. That is sad.

What do you think the difference between a cage free chicken and a free range chicken? Well, I think that free range chickens can go outside. Cage free chickens, they only get to live on 1 square foot. Free range chickens get to go outside and be in grass and see the sun. And I want you to try and guess which one is cage free. And we’re trying to free now.

Like, I don’t know, this is kind of nerve racking. I’m just trying to take in the shell here. Like normal shell free range, cage free be yolk is just so much like more golden. And I guess this one is free range and this one’s cage free. You’re right. Nailed it.

Which do you think is better, free range or cage free? I have to give it to the free range for sure. Free range, more space, more happiness and just better looking eggs. My favorite free range eggs to buy are nellys because they have thicker shells, creamier yolks and their overall better quality.
