Thirty four years ago today, July 27th,1990, we had an attempted coup right here in Shenada and Ciligo. It lasted for about six days. But to be quite honest, I was very young at the time, 10 years. I remember being at Rodney Supermarket and Arema going to visit my granddad and the news coming over the radio. Was that, you know, lives were lost. At that time of Prime Minister was the honorable Ian I. Robinson. There was a lot of chaos and, you know, just general fear all over.
And bring in, these are for two reasons. I spoke to my nieces and nephews yesterday as we passed the Red House, and I asked them if they had ever heard about it, and they said, no, I’m not sure if they teach that in schools anymore. I’m not sure. But they said no. So I wanted to raise it today. Right now, there’s a tour going on at the Red House, a Red House tour. And they do touch briefly on the history of Chinatown regards to the attempted cool. So if you’re looking for something to do with the kids over the holidays, you can definitely check that out.
No. 2, I want to know if you guys were wrong at that time. Where were you? I remembered Luton. I remembered a lot of fair. My mom was at the time working in port of Spain and we weren’t able to see her or she wasn’t able to come home for a few days because just nothing was happening or no one was able to pass for a spin. So let me know where you were at that time. If you were born, what was your experience? Did you directly have a bad experience with the cool? Yeah, let’s talk.
