Unfortunately, I’m going to use the white owned products because I just feel like it’s better for my hair. Never said Marissa ever. It’s another day, another twist out with black owned products. So I actually got this one, L’Oreal hair care, it’s black owned, but I got it from Marshall’s for $7.99. That’s a big deal y’all because these products are expensive and they work well. Y’all admire this definition. Let’s get back to what was said here. It would be great if hair care brands sold more smaller sizes of product, travel, or more sample sizes. So something that I learned from the brands is that it costs just as much for them to make a full size product as it does a small product. So that becomes a money issue for the small brands. However, to your point, and to every other black girl who’s tried a million hair care products, it’s almost worth it to build this kind of thing into your implementation plan if you’re going to be a black owned business in retail because it gives a way for people to try things without returning it to the store. Because when people return things to the store, that is also a hit on the black owned brand. So maybe the money should be used on the front end to make sample size products versus on the back end when people are returning full size things of hair care product. Again, that’s easier said than done for a lot of these brands because they already don’t have the capital they need to sustain their business. And we all know that something can work amazing on me, but it may not work amazing on somebody else. But just in case anybody hasn’t thought about this, if you have a group chat with your friends, maybe think about trading product, give it to shelters, give it to churches, some schools take products because on the weekends they do like open gifting to the communities in the area. So if you do have something that’s full size, try not to throw it away, somebody will take it from you. And per usual, retail, but make it black.
