Tom Cruise closes out the Paris Olympics in an epic way. At the closing ceremony for the 2024 Olympics, the Mission Impossible star, who’s known to do his own stunts, goes full action hero mode and completes the craziest routine ever. He starts out by rappelling from the top of the Stade de France down to the stage, where he grabs the Olympic flag from Simone Biles and the Los Angeles mayor, Karen Bass, to head back to the US. Tom then jumps on his motorcycle and rides off into the night with the Olympic flag waving on the back. But his antics didn’t stop there. The actor then catches a flight and skydives back to California, where he’s seen parachuting down to the Hollywood sign, leading the way for epic performances from Billie Eilish, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snoop Dogg, and more. And Tom’s thrilling stunt serves as the perfect ending to the year’s Olympic Games. Not only did countless wins and moments make history, like Katie Ledecky and Simone Biles becoming the two most decorated athletes of all time, or when Noah Lyles blew through the track to earn bronze, only to realize he competed while sick. But there are moments that made fans laugh and, of course, downright cry, like the athletes who took the golden opportunity to pop the question of a lifetime, or the stars who shared just how much the Games meant to not only them, but to their families as well. It’s a feeling of competition that almost every athlete feels after such a life-changing event. And Simone Biles has previously echoed this same sentiment, telling the Olympics.com in early August, the Olympics is such a draining process for the athletes when it’s multiple days of competition, you definitely have to be on top of your mental as well as your physical. So as long as we’re doing that, then we’re good.
