Book vs. Film: A Comparison of Emotions and Characters

As somebody that has read the book and watched the film, these are my honest reviews. If you haven’t done either, then please skip past this video because I would never want to ruin it for anybody. This book got me back into reading and it’s one of my favourite books I think I’ve ever read. It’s one of my favourite Clean Hoover books, yes, but it’s not actually my top favourite. If you guys want to know which one is, then I would definitely tell you. Mixed reviews, but the film was on par. There were parts of the book that definitely aren’t in the film, so if you are thinking of watching the film without reading the book, then I don’t recommend that you do that because both the stories are obviously exactly the same, but some parts that are in the book just aren’t in the film, which was a little bit upsetting. But then again, there are some bits in the book that I don’t really feel like needed to be in the film and one, the diaries. Obviously, if you’ve watched the film, you know the diaries are not in the film. It’s just like flashbacks, which I actually really like. Now for the girlies that have done both, you understand when I say that the parts that were missed from this book shouldn’t have been missed. Just keeps them in the fridge magnet. What else was it? The kiss on the heart, the middle name. But they were definitely missed. I mean, the book had me sobbing, it had me laughing, it had me feeling all sorts of ways. And the film definitely did that as well. But I just think in a book, it exaggerates every sort of emotion more than a film. And although the film was absolutely fantastic, Blake Lively did such a good job. And Baldoni, obviously, he is fantastic and he is gorgeous as well. Would I have cast them? Definitely not. But we’re in Colleen Hoover, we trust and they absolutely smashed it. My favourite character of the film was definitely Atlas. And I feel like it was pretty much the same in the book, to be honest. And I was drawn to him very much. I think Marshall. Marshall could have been chosen better. I didn’t see him as that person at all. But overall, I think they did a fantastic job. I think the film was it’s going to be the film of the year. I waited two years for this film and I don’t really feel like it disappointed.
