Optimizing Resistance Training: The Importance of Repetitions and Muscle Engagement

When doing resistance, four to six reps is plenty for them. Unlike with sleds, when they’re using resistance on the block, on the box, they’re using a lot more muscle groups to try to keep their hips in position, keep their bodies in alignment, and keep everything pressing in the right direction. So the energy expenditure is a lot higher than what they would normally have on a sled. So four to six reps is typically enough. After about six reps, you see the power start to decline because of them using so many more muscle groups to try to keep everything in position to go down the track.
