Misconceptions in First-person Shooting Games: Understanding Recoil and Tracking in Apex Legends and Overwatch

Guys, we have to stop doing this thing where we say something with so much confidence and it’s just so so wrong. Like we can’t, we need to stop doing this as a species. To say that recoil is what makes aiming hard in Apex is just illustrating how little this person understands about what they’re saying. When you’re inside a weapon’s effective range in Apex, as long as you’re strafing and moving your mouse enough basically, because of a mechanic called recoil smoothing, we don’t have any recoil at all for the most part. Some of the patterns are if a target is really far away or if you’re standing still and shooting. That’s when the recoil takes full effect because you’re not strafing and you’re not moving your mouse enough for recoil smoothing to fully kick in. And to say tracking takes zero skill and Overwatch is based on tracking is also just incredibly wrong. Smooth tracking fast small targets is incredibly difficult and if you think it’s easy, you are like silver at max. No offense, but also like… please. And Overwatch is not based on tracking. There are clicking heroes as well and there are lots of projectile characters too.
