The Controversy Surrounding Jordan Childs’ Bronze Medal: An Ongoing Battle for Gymnastics Justice

Jordan Childs officially has to give her bronze medal back even after USA Gymnastics appealed their decision after submitting new evidence showing that the inquiry that they made on Jordan’s floor routine was submitted 47 seconds after the score was received and not a minute and four seconds like they had originally said in their hearing with the Romanian Gymnastics Association. They just notified USA Gymnastics saying that their rules do not allow for the award to even when conclusive new evidence is presented. So basically they’re saying that no matter what evidence is shown after the original decision made in their hearing, with only the evidence provided by the Romanian Gymnastics Association, that’s what they have to go off of and once that decision is made it cannot be reversed or changed. And then they, the CIS, passed it up to the IOC to decide what they wanted to do with the medals and that is when the IOC said that Jordan had to give it back and none of this I guess can be reversed or at least that’s what they’re saying. USA Gymnastics said, A new Forbes article just came out about Romanian Gymnastics saying they never agreed on taking the medal from Jordan Tiles which makes sense because Romania and the USA decided together that they were fine with sharing it but I guess that wasn’t good enough for the Olympic Committee. So this is just going to keep getting drawn out because the US is going to try and find every avenue to prove that Jordan deserved that medal and that the original decision from the CIS after the hearing is not correct and I feel like Jordan needs to be vindicated in this sense.
