Countdown to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics: New Sports, Venue Updates, and Sustainability Goals

Wanna know when the Olympics are back? Don’t worry, I got you. The next games are four years away and will take place in Los Angeles. It’s due to start on the 14th of July, 2028, while the Paralympics will take place on the 15th of August. It’ll be the third time the city has hosted the games and we’ll see more than 50 Olympic and Paralympic sports contested across more than 800 events. So which sports are in and which are out? Squash, flag football, and paragliding will make their debuts, and cricket, lacrosse, and baseball will return. Enjoyed breaking this year? Well, sorry, but it’s out. But surfing and skateboarding are here to stay. LA is no stranger to hosting big-scale events, but there’s concern about traffic and transport. Organisers have pledged a car-free games after winning the bid in 2017. They’re looking to transport people on a fleet of buses after plans for a major rail network upgrade fizzled out, according to the LA Times. Do you think the bright lights of LA will top the bright lights of Paris?
