Breaking Stereotypes: The Rise of Jalen Langsey, Minnesota’s Hidden Basketball Gem

This might be the most criminally underrated Hooper we have ever seen. Meet Laotian American Jalen Langsey, a straight killer on the court. We got to see Jalen take home the MVP of our 2024 Amazing All-Star. He showcased this man. Jalen was hands down one of the most dominant players in the entire state of Minnesota last season. As a senior, he was one of 10 Mr. Basketball finalists. 8 of those 10 athletes on the list are headed to Division 1 schools. But Jalen did not receive a single Division 1 offer. He might not pass society’s stereotypical basketball eye test, but this guy’s game is undeniable. Jalen was one of the only Asian Hoopers to ever dominate Minnesota high school basketball. And he became a cult hero within the community doing so. Jalen averaged 23 a game and even had back-to-back 40-plus point games this season. In one game, he scored 44 on 16 of 18 shooting. He came out to Toronto and put a clinic in our showcase. His team was down double digits entering the fourth quarter and he took things into his own control. Jalen dropped 19 fourth quarter points to lead his team to the win. Jalen would be playing D2 ball at Northwestern College and we’re sure he’s going to be a bucket from day one. He’s already a local legend, but he deserves to have his name known around the country. Remember the name, Jalen Langsey. MVP!
