Theater-Inspired Melodies: A Songwriting Journey

I thought it would be cool in the second verse to include little melodies and lyrics of parts that I have played, that I grew up doing theater on. So I snuck a few little moments into the song. For example, I played Eponine in Les Mis and the first part of the second verse is like, a little fall of rain can hardly hurt me now. And that’s a lyric from that show. A little fall of rain in the rivers we know. And I have a few other ones, like a hairspray one, like, You Can’t Stop the Beat isn’t there, a chorus line one snuck in. You can’t stop the beat. But when I wrote it, I literally visualized this theater. A little fall of rain can hardly hurt me now. This ain’t my fun about. Still on the stage, never in the seats. Could never stop this beat. We were so meant to be. You made me who I am today. I could never, ever say no to you. You were my favorite part. You’ll always have on my heart. Memorize your every line. But in between all the lines, they said kiss today. Goodbye. Kiss today. Goodbye. Bye. Good to see you guys. I’ll see you later.
