Title: Controversy and Conflict: The Unraveling Drama Surrounding Jordan Child’s Bronze Medal Appeal

The head of the panel that rejected Jordan Child’s appeal for her bronze medal is Romanian? I’m sorry, what? This has just taken on a whole other level of fuckery. So if you missed what’s going on, Jordan Child had her bronze medal stripped saying that they appealed at 4 seconds too late to get her score corrected even though the judges made an error in her scoring initially. They said she had to give the bronze medal back then. Yesterday in Romania, she had, she being Anna, the now third place winner, had a medal ceremony. U.S. Gymnastics had evidence that showed that they actually did appeal it in time in front of that one minute mark, but they refused to hear it and said that they can’t overturn their decision because they already made a decision. And even if there’s new evidence, they can’t do anything about it. And the head of that panel that said that worked for the Romanian government. So the International Institute for Conflict Prevention Resolution reported that the head of that panel that made the decision has links to Romania, has previously worked for the Romanian government and has represented the Romanian government in arbitration cases before. Now he did disclose this to the CAS or that’s what CAS is saying and that no one on the panel had any objections, which is actually crazy. But it said in accordance with the guidelines on conflicts of interest issued by the International Bar Association, CAS has no reason to remove an arbitration, excuse me, an arbitrator making such disclosure if the parties do not object to their appointment. As we know, the U.S. Gymnastics is fighting this. They are planning to take this to the higher courts. It’s probably going to go to the Swiss Federal Tribunal. They are not giving up on making sure that Jordan somehow retains that medal.
