Evolution and Inspiration: A Filmmaker’s Journey Through Seminal Movies and Personal Favorites

film? Okay then. Okay it’s easy. Two that are seminal 2001. The computer knows that the mission is more important than the people so we copied that and then another seminal movie was Star Wars. I’d finished my first one was The Duelists. Very good film. I won a prize at Cannes. I was gonna do Twist and Assault next. I mean how artistic can you go? Came here to see the opening night of Star Wars and I sat there. I was depressed for three months. How could I be doing Twist and Assault when this guy does this? Did a U-turn. Offered Alien within six weeks. It was an accident. I went I’ll do it. Actually won a mind blade runner which has set the pace for many many many many things. Film that people don’t know is so clever and so brilliant it’s called Quest for Fire. Quest for Fire. Watch it. It’s prehistoric. It’s about a tribe who discover fire by lightning. They carry fire in a basket. That’s the story. It’s fantastic. People will add that to their watch lists because of you. Thank you so much. The one that’s always there is Caramouche from 1952. It’s one of my favorite movies. What made me fall in love with movies. We’re going to Alien. Alien just nothing beats that. Then back to the future but two which is not the best but it’s my favorite which is two different questions. What the best and what’s your favorite? My favorite back to the future. I think for the fourth one I will take Oldboy. Park Chang-woo. Oldboy changed my life made me rethink cinema completely and really send me in a completely different direction of what I was going to with my own film and what I want to do as a filmmaker when I watch that movie just changed my life.
