Remembering Ada Bacocki: The Nine-Year-Old Girl Whose Legacy Saved Lives

A nine-year-old girl who was killed after she was hit by a double-decker bus alongside her five-year-old brother has been named as nine-year-old Ada Bacocki. She died in hospital on the afternoon of Monday, August 5, two days after she was struck by the vehicle in Bexleyheath, South East London. Little Ada’s organs were donated and used to help six other children. Police revealed today the kind girl had once cut her long hair off to give to charity and has been described as a keen gymnast and swimmer. The male driver of the bus was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving and drug driving. He has been bailed to a date in early November pending further inquiries. Her younger brother was taken to hospital as a precaution but has since been discharged. They were both with a family member at the time of the crash. Ada lived close to the scene of the crash and went to a local primary school. She was a Turkish-British national and also attended the Turkish school in the area. The Met Police have confirmed that she will have a multi-faith funeral.
