Diversifying the Menu: Exploring Culinary Representation in Black-Owned Restaurants

I definitely think that Houston is leading the pack with the amount of black-owned restaurants that are opening up. However, many people can agree that many places, especially in the black American sector, are serving the same food. You know you’re gonna have your lamb chops, your chicken and waffles, your shrimp and grits, your purple orchids, and your parsley all over the food. However, I’m on the fence about this. It’s our food which is our culture, so what other types of food can we serve? Of course, this topic isn’t just unique to Houston, but I guess with the amount of businesses that have opened up in Houston, it is obvious that many do have the same menu. So here’s a few grievances from my followers. I’m okay with the menus just as long as the food is consistent and is of quality. But yes, in the black American space, we should see more of our foods added to the menu. What y’all think?
