are we entering the dark age of the biopic?
have biopics always existed
yes of course
but to this degree I don’t think so
like Nicolas Cage is gonna play John Madden in a Madden biopic
they’ve announced a biopic about Anthony Bourdain called Tony
there’s not gonna be just one biopic about the Beatles
there will be four of them
one from each of their perspectives
and then in the fifth one
they fight Thanos I’m pretty sure that’s exactly how it went in real life
there’s allegedly two biopics about Hulk Hogan in the works
one with Ben Affleck and one with Chris Hemsworth
but this one was announced like
two years ago and apparently it’s in limbo
so it might not happen
Britney Spears is getting a biopic from the director of Crazy Rich Asians
and the upcoming wicked Michael Jackson biopic comes out next year
and if you thought it was crazy how much money the Bohemian Rhapsody movie made
this movie will probably make more
coming out later this year is a biopic on Donald Trump called The Apprentice
and then in December of this year
Timothy Chalmet’s playing Bob Dylan in a movie called a Complete Unknown
but that’s not the end for Chalamet
after that he’s playing in a biopic about ping pong player Marty Reisman
remember like
two years ago when it was announced that Julia Garner is gonna play Madonna
allegedly still happening
I’m being very serious when I say this is just the tip of the iceberg
Frank Sinatra boxer Christy Martin
Carole King Bruce Springsteen
a Fred Astaire movie with Tom Holland is allegedly also still happening
sublime biopic a Bee Gees biopic
granted some of these were talked about years ago
they still haven’t happened and may not happen at all
I’m not saying these are all gonna be bad
it is very likely that some of these are very good
but there are many that are very questionable
again I’m not trying to be a negative Nancy here
but looking at this list
and knowing very well there’ll be more people added to it is feeling a bit bleak
