The Rise of Overcompensation: The Absurdity of Unnecessary Lifted Trucks

The blind spots on lifted trucks are getting out of hand.
This is just ridiculous.
Especially when this lifted truck is more than likely
not doing any truck stuff at all.
When I make videos like this
a lot of people will leave comments like yeah
but I tow a 22,000 pound trailer with my truck
or a 30,000 pound boat.
If you use your truck for truck stuff all the time,
this video is not directed at you.
But most people don’t. 75% of truck owners tow less than once per year,
meaning never. And basically the same thing for off roading.
The thing that most people actually use their truck for is the bed.
But this older truck is about half the size of this newer truck,
even though they have roughly the same bed size.
And it’s actually better as a truck in some ways
because it’s lower to the ground
which makes it easier to load and unload.
When I make these videos
I’m talking about the people that buy these trucks
that don’t need them at all.
This person was an accountant
and they bought a hundred thousand dollar truck
without telling their wife.
They put their family into a hundred thousand dollars of debt
just so they could have a big truck that they don’t need.
We’re talking about parents that buy their kid a giant truck
for college
and then they have to park it year round in a parking garage
like this
Or the giant lifted truck in the driveway of a suburban house
being used as an office commuter.
It’s this really dumb hyper individualism
where you care more about what you have being this cool thing
than inconveniencing all the people around you.
It’s basically the vehicle version of a Mcmansion.
