Sartorial Statements: A Fashion Tribute to Heritage, Sorority, and Politics

Today I’m in. I’m wearing honor for, um,
my African heritage, pink and green for my sorority,
which is the same as Kamala Harris.
So we just want to bring all the energy,
bring the light into this whole experience.
This was my favorite,
and this was inspired by our convention 2012 in Charlotte.
At that time, they had the Tea Party,
so I had a hat with tea bags.
And so we modernize it now for no Trump. Haha.
I’m wearing democratic blue,
and I got my pins here for President.
Biden’s gonna be speaking,
and since we’re from Colorado,
wearing all cowboy hats and cowgirl hats.
I wanted to pay homage to my family and certainly my grandmother,
how she worked, you know,
to get women’s right to vote.
And I wanted to really pay homage to her
and bring her with me to this convention.
That was just a chill decision.
Put on some clothes and. And walked out.
Very easy, easy decision to put on my kufiya.
I’m Palestinian American. I’m proud, and I’m loud about it.
