someone gave me
this groovy Pete the Cat creation!
and it reminded me of doing Storytime
at a kindergarten camp
I had just finished reading
a Pete the Cat book
and one of the kids goes,
“okay, now is the time for Peppa Pig?!”
and one of counselors goes,
“no! not this time
we’ll wait until next time
you gotta take your nap”
I said,
“okay, next time it is!
maybe you’ll dream of Peppa Pig?”
and this kid goes,
“no. I only dream of fire and tornadoes”
and I’m concerned
two of their fellow campers
kindergarteners
they also look at their friend
they are also concerned
they’re wondering about these fires and tornadoes
that may be happening
but I have to say something to this kid
so I say,
“EVERY time?”
the kid says,
“yep! but it’s okay
I’m like Pete the Cat
I’m always alright”
Pete the Cat…
I don’t know how you’re doing it
but you’re saving kindergarteners
from fire and tornadoes
in their dreams
Stay groovy, Pete the cat
we’re always alright!
