A Taste of Nigeria in LA: Cooking Dodo and Eggs with Falake Olufemi

My people. How far?
My name is Falake Olufemi.
Today I’m gonna be making one of my go to Nigerian meals.
You know, I live in Ibadan.
I live in L A, Los Angeles.
Whenever I feel like I’m missing home,
I want to be close to someone.
I go right here to some dodo and eggs.
Dodo is what we call plantain when it’s fried.
And my own home made suya pepper.
Shall I begin? This is some good plantain.
It’s not gonna be soggy, it’s gonna be crispy.
You dig?
Here we go.
Habaneras. But you can’t go wrong with too much pepper.
I hope you enjoyed the soup.
I tried to make it less spicy for you.
Yes, very mild.
Oh, no, please,
ladies first.
No thoughts. For
they’re gonna call me out for cutting stuff on my counter, but
we save this cause compost.
We save this cause composting.
Saving this cause compost.
Pretty much lunch is served.
A little bit of Nigeria, even when you’re in LA.
