Exploring the Evolution of Rolex Daytonas: From Vintage to Modern Models

We’re gonna take a look at some Daytonas today,
being that I got a few over here
and they’re gonna be gone in the morning.
But we’re gonna take a look over here
and we’re gonna show you some differences in some of the older models
compared to some of the later models.
Okay, this is probably the latest one that we have.
This one is from, uh,
2016, 2017.
This one’s from 2002, this one’s from 1995,
and this one is from 1972.
The difference. One of the differences that everybody likes to.
Everybody asks is
the difference between a Zenith Daytona and a modern movement Daytona.
This is the 40 30 movement,
which is the Zenith, and the 41 30,
which is the regular Rolex.
The easiest way to tell is see this little second indicator?
I’m gonna start her up,
and I’m gonna start this one up cause it’s in a different location.
Yes, this is how you start them up.
Don’t nobody get crazy. The butcher is not butchering
the 60. The second indicator on a zenith is at 9:00.
The second indicator on the later Rolex is at 6:00.
This is a later Rolex. Also,
this is the lapis. And as you can see,
solar light. Excuse me?
Well, you know better than me these days,
I think. Solar light.
Factory diamond. And as you can see,
these two have the same movement.
This is the 41 30 movement.
Now, if we get into the Newman.
This is the 7:27 again, 7:27 has the seconds indicator at 9:00.
And this is going to its, uh,
new home, actually.
Tomorrow it’s going to be chauffeur by armored car.
And, uh,
it’s gonna be actually, uh,
kind of sad to see it go, cause I kind of like this watch,
actually. Very cool watch.
But honestly, my favorite watch to wear out of all of them is this one.
This is the one I like. This is a scrambled cereal.
This one has green Lume. It’s not the latest. Latest.
This is probably one of the ones that I actually like.
I never wore this one. Actually,
I think I wore it once. Did I?
I did a video with it. Wow.
I lost weight. Look at that. Wow.
Holy cow. But, uh,
yeah, this is a really rare dial.
And, uh,
I mean, in terms of value,
I mean, I know everybody wants to see value.
This happens to be the Alice Cooper one,
so this one’s 30+. This is just a regular 41 30 scrambled cereal.
So you got to figure this, like,
20 grand. This one,
50 to 60, depending on whether you’re buying it wholesale or retail.
And the Newman 2 50, you know,
that’s, uh,
that’s where it wound up landing.
So, uh,
hope this was informative.
Hope you like it. Seemed like a lot of fun to do.
We’re not gonna have all of these in the same place again, haha.
For a long, long time.
Or until I buy another Newman.
But, uh.
