here’s a Vegas hidden gem that you probably don’t know about
if you do let me know
these glasses are carved from solid ice
and cubes like this are used all over the city
but where is all this fancy ice work coming from in a desert?
this is “Fat Ice”
they make all the glasses for Minus 5 Ice Bar
and some of the fancy restaurants that you’ve probably dined at
if you’ve had a giant ice cube in Vegas
it came from here
this is an entire frozen ice fabrication factory
the process starts with these massive coolers set up in rows
each bin contains two lined pans
and freezing cold pure water is run through it until the ice settles in layers
making blocks that look like this
then these massive industrial strength drills do the rest of the work
watch this one cut out one of those ice glasses
and the result is beautiful, interesting work
that you won’t see anywhere else
this kind of work isn’t inexpensive
and that might explain why the average cost of a drink in Vegas is $20
have you seen this before?
I’ll put more details in the comments
