Blast from the Past: A Nostalgic Look at Burger King’s Promo Watches through the Decades

Do y’all remember when
Burger King had
the watch promos?
the watches with characters
on them started rolling
out in the early 90s
but they also had watches
in the 80s that were like
plain colors with Burger King
logos on them
now you could get one of
these fun watches for $1.99
with any purchase
of a value meal
I believe
the first set of character
watches they did was
The Nightmare Before Christmas
in 1993 and these came in
cute little boxes with
printed bows on them
and there were several
different designs
to choose from
usually like three or four
the next set they did was
for Congo the movie in 1995
and I’ve literally never
heard of this
it’s not a kids movie
so this collection is
just a bit confusing
but they did this one
then the Jurassic Park
collection in 1997
and one of the watches
had a glowing eye
then we have the first
Rugrats set in 1998
the Chucky one was
scented like bananas
and the Tommy one
talked because of
course they did
people were doing the most
with fast food toys back then
instead of whatever
cardboard garbage
they have now
then they did
Rugrats in Paris in 2000
again several
different designs
in 2002 they had a
Simpsons collection
I specifically remember the
Krusty the clown one
for some reason
a SpongeBob
collection in 2004
and I’m pretty damn sure
I had one of these
in 2005 they did Star Wars
and they came in special
little metal tins
and then they did
SpongeBob again in 2010
and these ones looked a little
bit more modernized
than the original design
of the watches
but I think that is the last time
we saw these promo watches
from Burger King
I think this is such a fun
little thing to do
and it’s only an
extra two bucks
if Burger King brought
these back
I would actually go
to Burger King
