City Living Essentials: A Guide to Functional and Stylish Products for Urban Life

Since I moved to a bigger city,
I had no idea how important it is
when you’re deciding on what clothes to wear,
what products to use.
So these are my favorite products that I have in my collection.
That makes living in a city a lot more easier more enjoyable.
And I just love wearing and using these pieces for just daily life.
Obviously you don’t need any of these products to live in a city.
These products have just made my adjustment a lot easier,
made it a little bit more enjoyable.
I just love using these products on the daily.
The first one
I’d recommend just picking up a nice comfortable daily sneaker.
I went for the Solomon XT6 just because it is waterproof.
It’s one of my favorite travel shoes to bring
because it kind of works in any situation,
whether you’re backpacking,
going to Europe, going anywhere on vacation.
It’s kind of a do it all shoe
and I just really like the way they look.
And being a Gore Tex version is very nice if it’s raining
or just bad weather in general.
For a dressier version, I went for a Mr.
Porter Derby. You can get any pair of derbies.
I would try to get something with a lug sole,
non slip.
It makes it a little easier when you’re walking around and it’s rainy
slushy, and just very easy to clean off the leather.
And just a perfect everyday staple that I Wear to the office
and also just out to dinner with friends
or even just around town. Very comfortable,
broken in nicely, and love these shoes very much.
Lastly, kind of a beater pair of white sneakers.
Mine are the Adidas BW Army.
I clean them up quite often and they clean up very nicely.
Whether it’s a Reebok, a Stan Smith,
Marcela Gatt, whatever it is,
just get something that’s leather.
Cleans off easily and you can kind of beat up and just throw around.
So I love these. They’re comfortable,
easy to walk in, kind of just an everyday staple.
The next one I’d recommend is a packable hat.
I love just throwing this in my backpack,
my work bag, my gym bag cause it folds down very nicely.
It’s nylon, I can just throw it in the washer.
So I bring this kind of everywhere I go.
If I ever have bad hair or I’m just going for a run,
this is something that’s very easy to pack with me,
so love using this. Um,
the second thing I’d recommend,
which is by far my most recommended thing,
is just a nice recycled tote.
I just keep this in my work bag
so if I ever need to go to the grocery store,
the laundromat, just anywhere I need an extra storage,
I just throw this in my bag.
Even just keep it in your pocket when you’re riding your bike
and just pull it out whenever
You need to put stuff in it for a bag.
This is my everyday work bag.
It’s from Yukon Acrobatics,
and I don’t know if this one’s waterproof,
but the water does beat off of it.
So I would recommend a waterproof backpack,
whether from our teryx rains,
Yukon acrobatics,
just because if you’re walking to work or riding a bike,
it’s nice to have just keep your stuff dry,
so makes it a lot easier
and you don’t have to worry about a wet backpack.
By far the most essential thing in my closet is just solid t shirts.
So whether that be a black, gray,
white, these are the most essential in my closet.
And it when it is super hot out,
I tend to go for a heavyweight black T-shirt
because you aren’t able to see the sweat as much.
As opposed to me wearing like a lightweight white shirt.
You can kind of see the sweat stains.
So I prefer to wear a black T-shirt if it is a little bit warmer out.
It matches with everything,
looks very clean,
and just kind of my everyday go to in the warmer months.
For pants, I’ve been really loving my our legacy 3rd cut down.
You just saw me unbox a new pair.
Those are currently at the tailor.
Another one of my favorite pairs is just a nice pair of selvedge denim.
These ones are from APC. I really love these.
They fair. They feel very Durable.
And I just love being able to wear them,
build character, whether that’s riding the bike,
riding the L, and just walking around the city.
So very cool. Just an everyday staple.
And I just love the selvage details
and just kind of showing your city life through your clothing.
And it’s very functional. And one thing I would say is
try not to get something super baggy if you are riding a bike,
because kind of gets caught in the pedal.
So just pay attention to the leg opening and how they fit.
A classic fit should work well for if you’re commuting to work,
riding a bike and wearing denim.
So just something to think about.
If you’re wearing super baggy jeans,
riding a bike is gonna be difficult for me.
I love wearing casual button down.
So this one’s from Lady White Co.
I have a few from Mr. Porter.
Another aspect. Hello. Sunflower,
Getman vintage.
And those are kind of my everyday staples for when I’m not at work.
When I’m at work, I just wear a button down.
But if it is warm out, if it’s not warm out,
I usually just wear it maybe a little bit unbuttoned over a T-shirt.
Just very casually. And these are kind of my everyday outfit uniform.
Just very functional, looks very put together.
If you don’t like that,
you can always go for maybe a knitted long sleeve polo.
This one’s from our legacy.
A few From MF Pen
UM corduroy makes some very nice casual shirting options.
Lay 17 September um.
I just really love how casual shirts look.
Very elegant, very relaxed,
and you can unbutton them,
button them up as you please,
dress them up in many, many different ways
so I go on forever. It’s just a great everyday piece to wear.
Let’s round off this list with some outerwear recommendations.
The first thing I’d recommend is getting a Goretex jacket
waterproof jacket,
whether that’s a trench version or just a jacket version
like an Arcteryx Beta LT or.
I went for this north projects.
More of a winter type jacket,
so when it is warmer out I usually just wear my Eddie Bauer.
Goretex jacket. So just something to keep you dry,
especially when it rains snows.
That’s a nice thing to turn to.
You don’t even have to worry about it.
If it is nicer outside
you can go for a cotton blouse on you can go for.
What I like is just a jacket with some pockets
so you can throw on your wallet, keys,
some interior pockets. That’s always nice.
Wax jackets, a wool overcoat,
and the list kind of goes on and on.
But I just try to prioritize garments that are made for function.
So if they have special pockets,
if they have zipper pockets,
if they have Gore Tex properties,
if they have like antibacterial so you don’t have to wash them as much,
just All those small details.
And there’s a lot of brands out there
that prioritize making products for people who live in the city.
Um, I know a lot of the outdoor brands do a great job of that,
like Snow Peak, our Teryx,
Norse projects. A lot of Scandinavian companies
and European companies do design their clothes with people in mind,
commuting via public transit,
using bikes to commute to work.
So I tend to buy a lot of my products from those companies
because that’s kind of the market and lifestyle I’m living now.
So that’s the way I go about it.
If you have any recommendations for me or have any feedback,
I’d love to hear from you.
Um, again,
hope you enjoy this video,
and hopefully you all are having an amazing weekend,
and I will talk to you soon. Take care.
